Denver, Colorado & Cheyenne, Wyoming
At the airport in Hannover we "met" quite a few people from our German olympic swim team e.g. Antje Buschulte (I'm not sure about the spelling). I even had a bathroom encounter with her :D (means: using the same toilet - what an honor lol).
After a super long flight we finally arrived in Denver. At the airport we fimmediately found the TUI-woman who was supposed
to welcome us *yay* and we met a woman with her daughter. Both of them were really nice and joined our bus tour as well. The hotel was located in the surroundings of the city center.
Anna and me woke up a few times at night. Probably because of the timezone differences (8 hours).
Breakfast at the hotel cost us 10 $ - for nothing. I only had a bagel and cream cheese plus coffee...
At 8 am our tour guide Sabine (from Holland) welcomed us and told us that we had to pay 5$ each day for our
second suitcase...nice! We were so pissed - I'm sorry but yes we were cause nobody told us before and the bus was only
half full so our 8 kg didn't matter at all. Maybe we can talk with her about it, we'll see.
The "Colorado-route" led us through the Rocky Mountains - impressive! Somehow I always imagined them red but they're green.
Now I know better :D
After our stop at the highest point where trees don't grow anymore Anna and I could feel the altitude (3500 m!) and became a little sick :(
One girl even had to throw-up...
We made another stop in a really small but cute town called Grand Lake. Both of us fell in love with it :D
In the evening we arrived in Cheyenne (Wyoming) where the "Frontier Days" (Rodeo) was taking place.
You can compare it with our Schützenfest/Kirmis in Germany because there were those little booths selling gifts, food, drinks etc.
They also had a small rollercoaster and things like that. Unfortunately the rodeo was already over when we came.
Everybody was dressed in western-style with cowboy hats, wrangler jeans, cowboy boots,belts...
People were really nice and friendly - approved my impression of the Americans again :)
Hey guys *wave*
I arrived yesterday at 2.30 pm and because I don't enough time to write right now, I'll just let you know this: The trip was amazing!
Best holiday I ever had and I'll never forget it. 3 weeks was def. not enough ;)
Nevertheless missed all of you!
Hope to post the first bits and pieces of my report soon.
Uploading the pics to my computer right now.
Have a nice day everybody
oh and btw: THE UNI ACCEPTED ME *yay* I got a small letter as Rory from the "Gilmore Girls" would put it :)

energetic
Wow, the time flew by so fast...we planned this trip for almost 2 years and it's a dream coming true :)
Still can't believe it's really going to happen...
I'm going to leave at 8.30 am tomorrow morning, so this is my last entry for a few weeks.
Hope you have nice 3 weeks, can't wait to post my report and pics here ;)

Ok, so only 5 days left till my plane to the States takes off :)
I still need to do a lot of things which is why I started one of those little "Things to do" lists.
Just in case anyone is interested in the content of the list:
- addresses of people to whom I'd like to send postcards (yeah I'm the oldfashioned kind)
- list of things we want to see (like in SF and LA)
- music for my "soundtrack"
- food we need to taste (e.g. Mac&Cheese which I love, Root beer even though it tastes like medicine IMO...)
Do you guys have anything for me that can or has to be added to my food list??? It's quite short.
Would be really nice of you ;)
I'll post the songs of my soundtrack soon,
enjoy your day!! ♥

So last week was my graduation. I thought I should post a few pics :)
Graduation ceremony was awesome: the speeches and the songs our school choir sang - just perfect.
Just so you get an impression of what comes along with our Abitur (that's how the graduation is called in Germany after 13 years of school):
You can join one of the following groups when you're in year 13
- yearbook with lots of photos, personal sides of everyone who graduates, class photos, teachers, class reports etc (I was joining this group)
- those who create our t-shirts with a funny slogan
- those who organize the prom
- those who organize the "Abi-gag" where we play funny games with teachers e.g. and the whole school watches :) plus: we turn the school upside down (chairs and tables get moved out of the classrooms etc)
- those who create our "monument"
Here's a pic of our monument:
and here's a pic of me receiving my "paper":
- Location:hm? at home???
Yesterday was the township celebration for which I had to organize a few things.
"My" YMCA sold Crêpes (that's our specialty) and lots of people, especially kids bought them. We had lots of “flavors”: Chocolate (Nutella), Chocolate & Banana, Sugar & Cinnamon, Lime & cane sugar, Kinder (chocolate), apple sauce (my fav btw), M&Ms and Cheese & Ham. The biggest hits were Nutella and Sugar & Cinnamon.
The service at 11 am was crowded and loud but great J A children’s choir also sang songs like “He’s got the whole world”…sweet!!
At 6 pm (we were beginning to disassemble the booth) thunderstorm sprang up and right in front of me and a friend a really big branch from a tree fell down – it nearly hit us and scared us half to death :D
When it was my turn at the Crêpes booth a guy came along and watched us…Caroline told me he was from France and here for 4 months. We tried to talk to him but it was quite hard cause he could barely speak German and I quit French after 6 months. His English was bad too. Caro could talk to him though cause she took French in school. Sounded really cute when he was speaking German and man was he good-looking lol. His blue eyes and his smile *thud*. Unfortunately he’s only staying for another 2 months and he’s got a gf so…L But it was nice talking to him and fun too.
I told you that I’m singing in a gospel choir, right? I can’t upload a video from our concert to youtube but I’ve got songs on my computer so I uploaded one called “Tubular bells” to sendspace. It’s not gospel – more meditating music. You’d think it’s easy but no not at all. It’s hard to get along with the volume and the time (5 min!)
Here’s the link. (to download)
Hope you like it. Other songs are going to follow soon J
Hope you all had a fantastic weekend,
Bye

Professor 1: "Hello God"
Professor 2: "We solved all mysteries and secrets of the world....we don't need you anymore"
God: "Is that so?"
Professor 1: "Are you going to assign if we create a human being from the ground?"
Professor 2: "Like you did in 1. Mose 2,7"
God: "Agreed"
Professor 1 and 2 are ready to start digging with shovels and buckets
God: "Wait! Not with MY ground. You have to take YOUR OWN ground"
(sorry for the bad translation)
That's what I found in my mail today :)
And this picture
"I'm closer to you than you think" - God
Followed by a poem:
Näher als die Luft zum Atmen
Näher als der Ring an deiner Hand
Näher als ein Sonnenstrahl und
Näher als dein Schatten an der Wand
Gott ist da
Zum Greifen nah
Steckt in unsrer Haut
Jesus
Translation (sorry, the rhyme gets lost)
Closer than the air to breathe
Closer than the ring on your hand
Closer than a shaft of sunlight
Closer than your shadow on the wall
God is there
Within one's reach
in our skin
Jesus
It's a campaign of gott.net - a really great website
We do lots of things, especially with kids. There are also programms for the summer holidays. Last year my cousin and I arranged a "Native American group" where we played games, told stories, created little bags and even went treasure-hunting :) 20 kids joined the group from 1 pm till 7 pm. It was exhauting but fun :) This year we're going to arrange the group again because a great number of kids couldn't join us (we were already too many). Besides activities in summer we also have a kids-group which meets one time a week. They're performing handicraft work, sing and play - everything refering to Jesus and the Bible.
Our YMCA also includes a gospel choir - this is our largest group. One time a year (in November) we're giving a great concert and the church is completely filled with people. It's always a big hit :) We also sing in services or even conduct them like the one around Easter. But we've got more to offer: we even sing on weddings and birthdayparties :)
This weekend is a township celebration where our members are going to sell Crepes (do you know them? very delicious!!!) and help the kids paint their own stone :D I'm still organizing things, making calls, buying stuff etc....I hope everything will work the way it should be. The whole celebration will start with a service at 11 am
Ok,so far for now
have a great day everybody!!
Speaking of RS I had to think of cars. Last week when I was shopping grocery with my mom in our neighboring village I saw ca. 10 of Laura's cars!!! 5 of them had the same color and everything. Either I never recognized cars before or people lately decided to buy cars from the 80s ?! Somehow I was feeling happy when I saw the cars :)
Oh and I'm proud of the car I am driving :D . It's not a convertible rabbit but at least it's a VW (Volkswagen).
The quality is not good at all cause I took the pictures with my cell phone
Today I'm going to buy contact lenses :) finally! Nevertheless I do like my glasses but for the prom I prefer to wear the lenses.
It was awful in year 7 and 8 when I got my first glasses AND had to wear braces...I felt so ugly. Then I got new glasses which looked much better but still I was quite shy. When I finally got rid of my braces in year 10 I was sooo happy you won't believe it. I was the last one of the kids in my class.
So now it's going to be another change. I'll still wear the glasses but it's nice to have a little change :)
A few weeks ago I took some pictures of our garden cause it looked beautiful (it still does btw ;) ). Here you go:

Hope you like them
And I'm still not satisfied with everything but ok...please tell me if you notice mistakes so that I can correct them.
Helen: I know it might remind you a bit of your story but I swear this one is going to be different ;)
She lay there in her warm bed staring at the ceiling of their bedroom. The blanket covered nearly all parts of her body except for her right leg – this was only one of her sleeping habits. An unfamiliar noise had wakened her up this morning at about 5 am. While she was poring over the cause of the noise she fell asleep again and started dreaming. It was the same dream for two months now and it wouldn’t stop repeating. She could see the shade of a man standing in front of her, leaning on their doorframe. The sun was shining bright and she had to shield her eyes from the light so that she could see the man’s face. The police officer opened his mouth: “I’m afraid I’ve got bad news for you Miss” he said with a voice that could not have been more cold and careless – at least that’s how she conceived it. After this the scenery changed and she saw his face right in front of her. She could register his white teeth because he was smiling. You could always see his teeth because it was such a heartily and upright smile he had. She could feel his arms around her, petting her back and whispering her name when the picture in front of her eyes began to blur. Now darkness surrounded her and she was not able to see anything. She felt awkward, lonely and helpless because she was not able to orientate herself anymore. Suddenly a loud crash made her cringe and almost scared her to death. When she noticed a narrow stream coming nearer from a distance she started running towards it to leave the darkness and cold behind her. Just before she approached the light, already reaching out her hands, she began to fall…something was ripping her off her feet. Slashing around herself, unable to shout, she recognized the cold and empty laughter of a man which was getting louder and louder the more she fell. Now she was trying to keep her ears shut but she could still hear the laughter. At that very moment, when she thought her head would burst into pieces because of that horrible noise, she woke up, found herself completely covered in sweat, all parts of her body stretched out on the bed. For the first thirty or forty seconds she was just lying there, trying to get her breathing under control. “One, two...breathe” she counted. And again: “One, two…breathe”. Everything’s fine. It was just a dream she said to herself, trying to calm down. Time passed by before she turned to her left. There it was – his side of the bed. The blanket still unfolded, the pillow a bit asymmetric and showing in her direction.
To be continued :)
I'm not sure if you knew this but last year I was very creative and wrote two short stories. I also handed them in for a competition. Even though I didn't win I received good criticism and I was told to continue with writing.
Now that I'm done with school I was thinking about it again and today a new idea came up to me. I already started writing and I'm hoping to post the first bits and pieces of my story soon. This time I'm not writing in German - I'm trying to write in English. This is why I need to check speeling and grammar again before posting :)
I'm really looking forward to it.

On Wednesday (June 4) 6 people were travelling ca. 6 hour by train to get to Nürburg: Astrid, Steffi, Marisa, Thorsten, Kim and me. The festival started on Friday so we were really early – that’s what we thought before we noticed the overcrowded camping site. After searching for a place where we could put up our tents (which took another one and a half hour) we found one ca. 30 min away from the festival grounds. We got our ribbons at 11 pm *yay* The next day we were looking around and searching for toilets, showers and shops. Turns out: only “Dixi” toilets in our surrounding and “real” toilets 15 min away from our tents L Anyway…the rest of our group (4 people) arrived Thursday evening/night by car. They had a problem with the cooling water but fortunately nothing happened. When we were having “lunch” (Maggi noodle soup with hot boiled water from the water kettle)the thing fell over and the water hit Astrid’s feet L
On Friday the festival started and we decided to watch these gigs: Seether, SilverStein, Opeth (not my kind of music btw), Bad Religion (my fav band) and Bullet for my Valentine. They all really rocked in my opinion! Saturday it was: Disturbed, In Flames, Madsen (German band), Nightwish, The Offspring and Metallica. I was a bit disappointed in The Offspring’s performance because they didn’t communicate with us but ok… Metallica was awesome – they played for like 2 hours and the crowed was thrilled. Sunday it was: Sportfreunde Stiller (German band), first 15 min of the European soccer cup (Germany vs. Poland), Jimmy Eat World and Die toten Hosen (German band). Jimmy Eat World was amazing cause we were standing in 6th row (lots of people were watching the soccer game). Die toten Hosen were really great too. Even though I’m not a big fan of the band I was surprised by their performance. The lead singer, Campino, climbed up the stage wall and sat on the “roof” of the stage where he fired a rocket so that everybody could see him. His foot was broken btw and he had to wear a splint. Nevertheless he did stage diving – really impressive.
I missed a few bands I wanted to see though: Rage against the machine, Gavin Rossdale, Babyshambles (I was just curious to see Pete on stage :D ), Simple Plan and Lostprophets.
The way back was less exhausting cause we did not have to carry the food with us. Nevertheless we left at 9 am and arrived at 7.30 pm…first thing I did when I got home: taking a shower :D
Here’s my pro/con or pos/neg list of the festival
Pos:
- camping with my friends was just great, we had a wonderful time and it was fun
- watching the bands was awesome
- the music was absolutly great
Neg:
- Dixi-toilets? Yuck!!! (I’ll spare you the details)
- Showering? Not much fun either: water’s really cold etc à you feel as dirty as before
- Drunken people can be really annoying and rude
- Circle pits are terrible cause you’re not able to listen to the music à you have to watch out for those idiots to not
get hurt
- I got a cold right now L
Things I learned:
- Maggi noodle soup and water kettles à beware!!! Plus now I can’t eat the stuff anymore (not that I ate it before)
- the minority is not drunken so either you join the drunken people to have fun OR be ready to defend yourself against some idiots who scream things at you like “don’t push!!! Stop pushing or you’ll get to see my fist” (even if you didn’t push), ask you questions like “interested in a blow job?”, make stupid jokes about you being so small and a woman, spatter you with water, unzip their flies or even grab at your boobs (which happened to 2 of my friends!)
All in all I can say the festival was awesome and I’d join one again J Not this year but maybe next year. It’s really an experience which everybody should make
